Thomas Engineering Group, LLC (TEG), a dynamic and growing engineering firm whose work culture values flexibility and work life balance, is seeking a highly motivated Professional Land Surveyor to join our expanding surveying team. Our operations are primarily centered in the greater Chicagoland and surrounding suburbs area. This is a full-time exempt level position with an excellent benefits package that includes medical insurance (health, dental, and vision), paid time off, company vehicle, and 401 (k). The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in building and enhancing our surveying services, while collaborating with field staff, managers, engineers, and support staff at all levels.
The Professional Land Surveyor is primarily responsible for assisting the Survey Department with drafting various types of Plats and Legal Descriptions. This position is also responsible for assisting in the field as necessary, calculating construction quantities and helping manage day-to-day activities.
Responsibilities
Effectively communicate with TEG Project Team and Survey staff, as assigned, on a regular basis.
Perform other duties as required or assigned by the Department Head.
Being able to provide these services with limited assistance.
Job Requirements
Professional Land Surveying License (IL preferred)
Flexible to work in office and/or in field.
A positive work ethic.
Professionally driven personality.
Trustworthy and Honest.
Strong organizational skills.
Strong communication skills to work effectively with field crews, PM’s and design staff.
Ability to read and interpret construction plan sets.
Valid U.S. driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with GPS, Robotic Total Stations, Scanners, Leveling and Control set up.
Familiarity with IDOT point code system.
Experience with MicroStation.
Previous experience with Transportation or Municipal related projects.
Familiarity with IDOT and ISTHA Standards and Specifications.
IDOT Documentation of Contract Quantities Certified.
Salary Range
$105,000 – $130,000
