Construction Engineer

Our team is looking for a Construction Engineer to join our team. We are looking for an individual with comprehensive knowledge and experience with IDOT, Illinois Tollway and County projects. Ideally, this candidate can immediately begin to demonstrate proficiency in construction inspection, material inspection, utility conflict resolution, coordination with contractors, clients, business owners and residents. The successful applicant should be a motivated, self-starting individual that aspires to work in a team environment and to ultimately grow and mature into a project management role. The ability to analyze and solve construction problems is essential.


Responsibilities

  • Read, interpret, and comprehend all Contract Documents, such as plan drawings, standard drawings, Contractor shop drawings, standard specifications, and project special provisions.

  • Perform daily inspection of construction work to ensure compliance with Contract Documents.

  • Monitor materials installed by Contractor(s) to ensure compliance with Contract Documents and/or submitted Contractor certifications.

  • Perform daily documentation of all work performed by Contractor(s) as required by Client standards.

  • Review Contractor’s shop drawing submittals to ensure compliance with Contract Documents.

  • Assist with survey layout and survey checks by performed horizontal and vertical field checks with total station, GPS, or transit level.

  • Monitor Contractor installed Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) on daily basis.

  • Communicate with assigned TEG Project Manager and Project Team on daily basis; more experienced candidates would be expected to professionally communicate with the client on a frequent basis.

  • Visit and safely traverse construction and project sites while complying with all applicable safety codes and requirements.

  • Available to work occasional evenings, nights, and weekends when required.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned by Project Manager(s) or TEG Executive Staff.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited school

  • 5+ years of engineering experience.

  • Experience with project documentation, record-keeping, or compliance tracking.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • A valid U.S. driver’s license.

  • Must be a US Citizen or permanent resident (without sponsorship)


Salary Range

  • $80,000 - $120,000
